After MWCMS is installed, the FTP server needs to be modified to rearrange the access rights. To set the required access rights automatically, the details of connection setup with the FTP server containing the MWCMS installer need to be provided.

Username and password are in no way stored or transmitted elsewhere. It serves no other purpose than changing MWCMS access permissions for the current installation. FTP protocol is used here because of the limitations that could have place in the case of using other options, like PHP safe_mode. CHMOD permissions can also be altered via any FTP client.

Also, to improve safety, database passwords are no longer stored in the configuration.php file in plain form. The installer will automatically encrypt the password before storing it in the config file.
